Originally from Massachusetts, Bonnie relocated with her husband in 2014 and embraced Sarasota as her new home. Bonnie has over 20 years of experience working in a healthcare setting. She was thrilled to join the LernerCohen team in 2016. You will often find Bonnie at our reception area as well as assisting our practice manager, Melissa.
A Sarasota native, Dondra joined LernerCohen Healthcare from First Physicians Group. In addition to being a Certified Medical Coder (CMC), she holds a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate. Dondra is the Front Office Coordinator, and it is her charming, friendly voice you most often hear when you call our office.
A lifelong Florida resident, Melissa brings her vast experience in hospital bedside nursing to LernerCohen Healthcare, where she offers a unique perspective in total patient care. In 2001, Melissa received the Nurse of Excellence Award while a nurse at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Melissa is the Practice Manager of LernerCohen Healthcare and is involved in various community organizations, including A Woman’s Journey, a program that supports All Children’s Hospital in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University.
Born in Sarasota at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Ashlee became an LPN in February of 2014 and worked with Dr. Cocco at First Physicians Group before joining LernerCohen Healthcare in 2016. Ashlee was recipient of the Hypothyroidism Honor Roll for outstanding work by successfully mastering the “Diagnosing and Managing Hypothyroidism” educational program. She is energetic, excited to learn and a committed team member to LernerCohen Healthcare. Some of the many activities Ashlee enjoys in her spare time are football, basketball and fishing.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Julie moved to Bradenton in 2002. She began her medical career as a Certified Medical Assistant in 2003 with Associates of Internal Medicine before joining LernerCohen Healthcare in 2006. Julie holds a Licensed Practical Nurse degree and works primarily with Dr. Lerner.
A native Floridian, Kairawan worked with Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s First Physicians Group before joining LernerCohen Healthcare. Kairawan graduated from Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI) as a Certified Medical Assistant. She was a member of the SCTI Honor Society as well as a part of the SCTI Advisory Board. At LernerCohen, Kairawan works primarily with Dr. Cohen.
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Matt moved to Florida when he was three. He became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1996 and received the Regional CNA of the year award in 1997. Matt attended Practical Nursing School in 1999 and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Prior to LernerCohen Healthcare, he worked as a Hemodialysis Nurse for Dialysis Center in Sarasota. In his role as Clinical Manager at LernerCohen Healthcare, Matt supports and assists all the doctors and the nurses. In his youth, Matt played baseball and soccer, and he is a huge Tampa Bay Lightning Fan.
A Registered Nurse (RN) and certified in medical/surgical nursing, Tara has been a Sarasota resident since 1984 and brings extensive nursing experience. Tara joined LernerCohen after 13 years with Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where she was involved in several committees and councils.
As a member of the LernerCohen Healthcare team, Tara is responsible for all aspects of patient education.
Bryan, DPT, OCS, COMT, CSCS, TPI
Bryan is a licensed physical therapist who has been in private practice, academia, wellness and sports for more than seventeen years in Sarasota. In that time, he has acquired exceptional clinical skills working with professional athletes from the PGA, MLB and WTA. In addition to being certified by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), Bryan is also certified as an orthopedic manual therapist (COMT) and strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). He is one of the few physical therapists in Sarasota who has achieved board certification as an orthopedic specialist (OCS). These skill sets are unique to the region, allowing for optimal golf and other sports performance improvement programs.
A native of Tampa, Bryan moved south to Sarasota to escape cold weather. He earned his undergraduate degree at Stetson University and doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University. Bryan is available for complimentary in-office physical therapy evaluations and exercise consultations.
A licensed physical therapist, Jennifer has been practicing physical therapy in Sarasota for over seventeen years. She earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Florida in 1995 and has since obtained both her master’s and doctorate degrees in physical therapy from Nova Southeastern University. After working several years in hospital-based and outpatient clinical settings, Jennifer opened Active4Life, a provider of physical therapy, fitness training and sports performance services. Jennifer’s combined education, experience and commitment to lifelong learning provide clients with programs designed to get results. Jennifer is available for complimentary in-office physical therapy evaluations and exercise consultations.
Bonni began her career as a personal trainer in New York City in the 1990s. During this time, she discovered her passion for nutrition and her skill for motivating and challenging people to improve themselves. Bonnie earned a master’s degree in nutrition from New York University as well as her certification as a Registered Dietitian (RD). She is a past president of the Manasota Dietetic Association. Her experience in long-term healthcare, physicians’ offices, fitness centers, and private practice has served as further inspiration to challenge individuals to take control of their own bodies, health and life.

Born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Angie moved to Florida in 2001 after having spent two years in North Carolina. In 2003 Angie attended SCTI and obtained an academic scholarship for the highest GPA in the Phlebotomy course. Prior to joining LernerCohen Healthcare, Angie held a position as the lead Phlebotomist at Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s outpatient lab. In 2014 Angie received the HAZEL Award, which signifies the lab employee of the year. She has two daughters and loves to spend time enjoying the beach.
